Catching up...Seattle in May

In May, Tavish and I headed out to Seattle and for once we picked a great time to go...the weather was amazing and we had a lot fun playing and visiting family and friends.

Hanging with the monkeys...

Beachtime

Discovering a new favorite...Top Pot Doughnuts

Cacthing up with old friends...where is the picture with Lonni???

Mothers Day brunch at the Lobster Shop with Auntie Sarah and Macy.
It would have been more fun if Tavish hadn't been screaming "don't touch me!!!" at the top of his lungs as I was trying to guide him to the buffet.

Doing chocolate shots with Macy.

Mmmm....chocolate. He does have Marquardt genes.

And this is how we both felt by the end of brunch.

Afterwards we headed over to  the beach where Tavish was gettin' jiggy and Macy was doing sun salutations for the great weather we had all week.

Looking for sea creatures.

Hunting for wildflowers

And a little cousin love...
that's why we love Seattle.

Catching up...April

April brought another Easter egg hunt, Tavish opted to hunt for more than just pink eggs, but needed to perform a mid-hunt candy inspection...

Afterwards, he walked his GF Elaine home...

This year was the first time we colored Easter eggs.
Tavish had a lot of fun, mom got to practice a lot of patience.

The final products...it took some convincing not to make them all pink. And then they sat in the fridge because neither Tavish or I like eggs and Rafal should just not eat them ('nuff said)...

Easter morning treats included a bubble gun

and chocolates...our Easter Bunny likes to stop by Poland on his way to our house...
Unfortunately the EB didn't hide any of the eggs we colored because someone was being too naughty that day...maybe next year.

Later in April, Rafal and I headed to Baltimore for a couples retreat, without kid, sponsored by the military. Check out this cool hotel room.
We didn't want to come back!

Catching up...March

March was spent settling into the Cool House.
We had our very first party, complete with Easter egg hunt, that had to be moved indoors because of the rain. Uncle Joe and Uncle Mike got to hide over 200 eggs all over the very bare house. Then the kids got to choose a basket and go crazy....

And guess whose pink basket this is filled with only pink eggs?
Yep...the boy still loves pink.

Recent Convos

Our computers died a while back, hence no posting.
But here's a couple of our recent conversations...

Tavish had brought home some pamphlets from church and was looking at them while we were driving in the car, which led to him asking questions about heaven...
Me: Heaven is way up high above the clouds, higher than an airplane could fly.
Tavish: (excited) I know how we could get there, we could get pixie dust and sprinkle it all over the car and the car could fly up to heaven with us in it!!!

Another day we were talking about naps, Tavish fights taking a nap now but he still needs them and I really need them.
Me: You need to take naps because when you don't you are really grumpy and that makes me grumpy.
Tavish: It makes you grumpy? And then you go like this (he makes a big sighing sound)??? And then everyone is grumpy??
Me: You got it.

Trainspotting

We had plans for this past weekend that went a little awry...

We were supposed to go to Pittsburgh to see our friends and were planning on leaving early in the morning...yes 7am counts as very early for me.

At 4am we hear the patter of little feet and the cry "Uncle Tom!" (he had put him to bed the night before for us), "come in here" we say, and in he comes followed by a trail of puke. Did I mention we have white carpet??? And Uncle Tom usually feeds Tavish Nutella when unsupervised??? You get the visual.

So Saturday was spent vomiting and cleaning up vomit (Rafal is a master carpet cleaner). Sunday the puking was over and we slept way in *smile* so we went for a little walk along the trail near our house to get some fresh, non-puke scented air. Part of the trail goes over the freeway so we got to do a little trainspotting...

We were lucky because we caught two trains, one going in either direction, which is pretty exciting when you are three and still not feeling great.

And for the record...Rafal got sick Monday, then Uncle Tom and I on Tuesday.
Please let's be done so we can enjoy the 70 degree weather this week!

A Grand Day Out

Tavish and I had a free day today, so we set off for an adventure.
Unlike Wallace and Gromit, it did not involve going to the moon for cheese, but we did go to the moon, sort of...

We went to the Air and Space Museum! Here we are waiting for the show to start in the planetarium. They have a great show for kids where Big Bird and Elmo travel to the moon and teach a little about stars. Tavish was sufficiently impressed and cutely excited.

We saw rockets and got to tour the Skylab.

We saw lots of airplanes and learned a little about lift and drag.

After we were done at the museum we rode the carousel on the mall...there seems to be a dragon theme lately...

And stopped for ice cream on the way home...Tavish requested green ice cream.

And this is what green ice cream looks like on your tongue.

We really did have a grand day out...Tavish did really well and it made me excited for more adventures in the future!
