Back to the Farm

This has been a very drawn out spring after a very cold, snowy winter but the stars aligned and we had a beautiful sunny day that coincided with a day off from school! The boys and I headed back to the farm and jumped on bouncy pillows, slid down big slides, went on a hayride, fed some goats and enjoyed spring...finally!

Easter Morning

Easter fell on General Conference weekend which meant we got to have a relaxing morning...the Easter  Bunny hid eggs high and low and this was the first year Paxton understood what was going on and was excited to  hunt for eggs. Tavish was very sweet and would point out where some of the eggs were hidden so that Paxton could find them (he looked like a pointer dog!) They brought their loot inside and tallied it up on the dining room table...(Tavish has been practicing tallying at school). Lots of candy was consumed and the hot items from the baskets were the space goggles and the chicken popper :) Also chocolate carrots can be a weapon so watch out!

100 Days

Despite multiple snow days the elementary schools are celebrating their 100th day of school! As part of the celebrations, each kid got to bring in a project they made at home using 100 of any item. We decided on candy corn (maybe because I found the leftovers from Halloween in the cupboard!)...I found a piece of white cardboard, cut it out in the shape of a candy corn, colored it the same as candy corn then glued on all 100 pieces of candy. When Tavish came home from school he said his classmates told him it was the best project in his class!

Best of Both Worlds

It's no secret...I don't like pets. I don't dislike other people's pets (usually) but I don't feel the need to have another messy, hairy, poopy thing to clean up after in my own home.  Tara the babysitter loves bunnies, she loves bunnies so much she has started breeding them and they are cute.  Tara the babysitter will bring bunnies over for the boys to play with and get the pet experience...but then she takes them home! The boys love the bunnies...Paxton gets so excited his whole little body shakes, here he kissing Dapper the bunny. Best of both worlds.

Snowmen

Aren't these the cutest snowmen you've ever seen? We are getting lots of use out of the snow clothes this winter. Tavish loves the snow and wants to play outside from the first snowflake coming down. He builds forts, makes snow angels and sleds on the little slope in our backyard. Paxton not so much...he will watch Tavish and Rafal out the window and ask to go outside in his cute little voice, but when I finally get him all bundled up, he only lasts about five minutes. He refuses to keep his mittens on and waddles around all stiff-legged, then back inside we go!

Ninja Birthday Party

It's only fitting that the year of the Ninja ended with a Ninja birthday party for Tavish and his friends. And the geek in me loves that the date of his party was 12/13/14.

Let the ninja training commence!

Even the little guy wanted to be a ninja! Which is not surprising, he watches most of Tavish's Tae Kwon Do classes and at home will hold on to a piece of furniture to balance himself and kick out his little leg and yell "hi-ya!"

Master Rhee taught these ninjas how to punch, kick and block.

Pizza and cupcakes when ninja training was done. And goody bags which were ever-so-distracting. The ninja-shaped lollipops were much more popular than the cupcakes I slaved over!

Six

I'm not really sure how this boy turned six already but he went and did it anyway. Whoever said the days are long but the years are short sure was right. Here's how Tavish's day started...

Fizbee the elf brought reindeer donuts for breakfast...Tavish doesn't look excited but it's more like he was soooo excited he got up too early and now he's really tired :) He did muster the energy to eat almost the entire plate of donuts himself.

Mom brought a Happy Meal and had lunch with Tavish at school. Tavish was very distracted by his crown which he wore all day and his classmates were distracted by the cupcakes I brought for their snack later.

The four of us went to Chuck E. Cheese for dinner and games...Tavish loves to play the games and I can only stand to go there on a weeknight when hardly anyone else is there. Then we had frozen yogurt with what looks like a pickle but is really a gummy worm.

Here Tavish is contemplating heavily the gift from Grandpa Wally and Grandma Marsha. As he put it "this is how a present is supposed to look!"  Apparently my present wrapping was lacking in his opinion this year.

Unwrapping is serious business, thank goodness little brother was here to help.

I think he liked it??!! 

Opening the gift from mom and dad, I dare not show the shoddy wrap job. But at least what was inside was totally acceptable...the much-coveted Gup-X!
