So the other day I was thinking that now that Tavish is wearing underwear every day that I needed to buy some more in case he has an "accident". Fast forward to yesterday...I'm getting ready to get in the shower and Tavish is in his room and has shut the door, I knock on the door but he doesn't want me to come in (usually he only does this if he is mad, but he's not) so I leave him alone to play. I take my shower and then go back to his room to check on him, knock on the door, he lets me in but is standing there giving me that look...the I-did-something-naughty-look...then I glance down and there is a pile of poop on the floor! Nasty! Then he pooped his pants again later that day at the babysitters and peed on the floor at home that night for Rafal. WTH! Today we go to the store and while I am at the store buying him new underwear...in case he has an accident...he hides in the clothes rack (which he often does) and poops in his underwear!!!
Guess I should have bought more...
And scratch the previous post that says he is potty-trained except for naps and bedtime...

Thoughts on Three
Now that the holidays are over and things are more calm (well as calm as they ever are at our house...just wait) and Tavish has been three for a whole month now...here's what three is like...At 40pounds and 40.5inches Tavish is officially the size of a four year old.
He is screaming a lot less and saying funny things a lot more.
He is potty trained except for naps and bedtime.
He pretty much refuses to ride his tricycle but likes his balance bike (he may never learn how to pedal).
Fartos and poopoos are hilarious and talked about often at home (and, let's face it, everywhere else too).
Like his parents, he loves "chockwit" and frequently asks for it. for breakfast. and lunch. and dinner. and snacks.
He likes to play with his cars, trucks, trains and legos.
He loves to cuddle and read books as we tuck him into bed...and then ask if we will "sweep with me for just a minute".
Now that he is in a big boy bed (er, mattress on the floor now) he realized he can get out of said bed and come into ours almost every night at some point.
He will let me cuddle him most of the time and is good about giving hugs and kisses.
Sometimes when we are driving in the car he will ask to hold my hand (love it).
He has a new found joy in jumping off things and asking me to "come look!"
He still answers a lot of questions in the negative...even though he really wants/means the opposite.
He is starting to get a little sassy...saying "nuffing!" in a very crabby put-out voice among other sassiness.
He can also be grumpy and has "grumpy arms" and will announce "I'm grumpy"...sometimes for no apparent reason.
But he is a good helper and will put his toys away (when prompted, of course) and has little chores that he helps with around the house (he loves to scrub the toilet...woohoo!)
He is enjoying his tumbling and swim classes at the rec center.
Every Sunday he grumbles about going to church but then has so much fun in Primary.
He still likes to hold things and take things to bed with him or if we are going somewhere (toys and kitchen utensils are the usual suspects) and often has a hard time getting in the car because his hands are so full of stuff.
Tavish loves to help me bake, especially if we are making cookies.
Lots of random observations but so far we like three!
The older he is getting the more fun we are having with him...here's to a fun year :)

New Year's 2012
We were going to go to Pittsburgh for New Year's weekend to hang out with friends, but realized the day before we were to leave it was going to snow the day we had to drive back...so last minute switch to staying home. Spent NYE watching the Chinese dancers at the Temple Visitor's Center, hanging at a friend's house watching the kids rock out on the Wii, and going to bed late...
New Year's day was Tavish's first day as a Sunbeam! He turned out to be more of a grumpbeam...to top it off he got a horrible haircut the day before and whacked his face that morning and got a big bruise right on his cheek. And he spent the entire sacrament meeting complaining loudly about not wanting to be at church and wanting to go home *sigh* On a positive note...we were on time to church for the first time in ages...so we're off to a good start!
We're not ready to let go of the holidays! So we went to see the White House Christmas tree on it's last night.
On the way back to the car Tavish fell down and hurt his hands...which necessitated carrying his dinosaur in his mouth...

Christmas 2011
Christmas is busy! We're lucky to have our East Coast family to spend it with...
The Christmas Eve post-feast recline at the Hawk's...Tavish felt it was his duty to help everyone open their presents. He did turn out to be a great trash-picker-upper.
Someone is about to get spoiled...
Exhausted boy...right in the middle of dinner at MarJo's he said "I want to lay down in your lap"...this picture is about two seconds later :)
Happy couple :)

Gingerbread, Stockings and Santa
Yesterday I finally hung up our stockings...we don't have a fireplace in the apartment and I was trying to figure out where to hang them when I remembered this rack. I got it when Mom was visiting and I took her to my favorite antique shops...she told me she would take me out over this awesome mantle we both loved, but it turns out I don't have a house to put it in right now and she couldn't fit it in her suitcase. So I got the rack instead and it's perfect for our stockings. This morning we woke to find Fizbee, our elf, perched on top ready to keep an eye on Tavish and report back to Santa.
Then we went to visit the big man himself. This was Tavish's first visit to the mall Santa and he did great...he's had lots of practice with his own private Grandpa Santa. Here he is waiting for his turn at the North Pole...it looks pretty but fake snow doesn't brush off well and the people in line behind us didn't appreciate it being thrown on their baby (too bad Fizbee wasn't watching then...)
In the evening Tavish got to decorate his own gingerbread man. Trader Joe's has these awesome kits that includes everything so mom doesn't have to do anything :) Tavish loved decorating it and has been loving eating it every day since.
Here's the final product...fast forward three days and you would find he has no arms or legs and his belly is rapidly disappearing.
And here's our cute little gingerbread man in his new winter hat.

Debut
Now that Tavish is three and it's almost January and he's almost a Sunbeam, his nursery class has been attending singing time with the Primary kids the last couple of weeks. They have been practicing for their performance at the church Christmas party which was Saturday evening...
Tavish was so excited to get up on stage with the "big kids" and sing their Christmas carols. He was standing above the piano and was watching the pianist intently most of the time he was up there. Their first song was Silent Night and he did a good job singing it but the next song was one he didn't remember and so he called Rafal over to the stage to tell him he didn't know the words *cute!* Not so cute...unbeknownst to me, right before he went onstage, he told Rafal he was too hot so Rafal took off the fleece he was wearing and let him go up in his too small, slightly see-through undershirt, and I know you can't see it in this crappy picture...but his belly is hanging out...awesome. Nothing says Holy Night like a little belly...

Holly Jolly Trolley
On Saturday we headed over to the Capital Trolley Museum because we heard a certain someone might be there...
All aboard!
Tavish held his ticket tightly...
He picked out his seat and waited patiently to go...but he did say "it's not chugging!" while we were waiting.
Guess who rode on the trolley with us?
Santa came up and talked to each kid on board...Tavish was excited but refused to look him in the face.
Well, hello! Do you want come sit with me?
Afterwards we got to pose with Santa...
...and check out some of the other trolleys in the car barn.

Tavish had so much fun we went for another ride!
