Our Independence Day festivities started with a ward breakfast at a nearby park, where we ate lots of pancakes and bugs (gnats everywhere...gross). We had told Tavish we were going to take him the beach afterwards because he's been asking to go just about everyday. Well, apparently everyone else had promised their kids too because by the time we got there at 11:30 the beach was filled to capacity and closed off. So we went to Annapolis instead...
where Tavish joined the revolution!
Tavish likes to read so Alex Haley read him Roots right at the spot where his ancestor Kunta Kinte was brought to the US in chains to become a slave. We checked out all the boats in the harbor and had some ice cream, then headed home for a nap.
Later Tavish traded in his bayonet for a glo-stick and got a little crazy before the fireworks show.
Ready for fireworks!
A Capital Fourth. The local high school puts on a pretty good show...we were finding debris in our hair the next day...
